As Phoenix excitedly awaits hosting VOCES8 in the spring of 2021 here in Vancouver, we are also eager about a more imminent opportunity for partnership with VOCES8.
Broadcast in HD from the intimate setting of the VOCES8 Centre, the renowned British group is thrilled to debut, Live From London, a new online festival featuring some of the world’s finest vocal ensembles. The line-up includes VOCES8, I Fagiolini, Stile Antico, The Swingles, The Sixteen (from Kings Place), The Gesualdo Six, Apollo5, Chanticleer (from San Francisco), and a special guest appearance by The Academy of Ancient Music.
This line-up of artists has never before appeared together in the same festival, and it will be the first time many of the groups have performed since the beginning of lockdown: “After six months apart, it is quite simply a momentous occasion for The Sixteen to be reunited again for this concert. We are delighted to be a part of Live from London,” said Harry Christophers, founder and conductor of The Sixteen.
These award-winning ensembles bring you their favourite works and pieces for which they’ve become renowned, singing repertoire from the Renaissance to contemporary A Cappella – a veritable ‘transport of delight’ from the superb acoustic of Wren’s St Anne and St Agnes Church in the heart of the City of London.
The festival will be broadcast online every Saturday at 7pm BST / 11 am PST for ten weeks from the first of August, offering a chance for a worldwide audience to reconnect with live choral music. Ticket holders will be able to watch live and/or on demand from the date of broadcast until 3rd October and in addition will be granted viewing rights to the full, 4K post-produced, concert film(s) for the rest of the month of October. Each broadcast concert lasts 60 minutes.
