Heather Toews
Heather Toews has been with the Phoenix family for 6 years. She is an HR Consultant, who is surprisingly naturally blonde! Her favourite Phoenix memory was the VSO New Music Festival in 2015: “The group of us, alone on the Orpheum Stage! It was incredible!”

Janet Nordstrand
Janet Nordstrand has been with the Phoenix family for 18 years! She is a K - 7 music teacher who loves travelling. Her favourite Phoenix memories are from touring with the choir in Europe.

Maia Smith
Maia Smith has been with the Phoenix family for 2 years. She is a Bioinformatics Engineer, who has spent many years in the orchestral world as an oboist. Maia is excited about working with many different choral directors this season.

Barb Paul
Barb Paul has been with the Phoenix family from the very beginning: this is her 36th year with the choir! She is an elementary school music teacher, who has loved working with all of the conductors of Phoenix. Barb believes that each has brought something unique, powerful and lasting to the group and we are a better choir for it. She is excited for the opportunity to work with four conductors this year, and looks forward to seeing who will be at the helm for the fall of 2019!

Kari Chastko
Kari Chastko has been with the Phoenix family for 3 years. She is currently a Bachelor of Education student in Secondary Music at UBC, and a violist. Fun fact, Kari once went skydiving with her Grandad! She is very excited to work with so many fantastic conductors this year, and to record with Phoenix for the first time!

Elizabeth Krieter
Elizabeth Kreiter is a new member of the Phoenix family this season! She is a librarian, and works in the TWU Research Office. Elizabeth loves to travel around Canada and wants to have been to every capital city in Canada within the next 5 years. Elizabeth is excited about pretty much everything this year: “It‘s my first of many years with Phoenix, and I’m absolutely loving being part of the choir!”

Charlene Gallaher
Charlene Gallaher has been with the Phoenix family for 26 years! She is now happily retired, and has very fond memories of two amazing tours to Germany, Czech Republic and Luxembourg with Phoenix, where they sang in some amazing spaces.
