If you loved our parody videos this spring and summer, you will love what we have in store next. We are inviting any and all members of the broader Phoenix community who would like to be “Part of our World” to be featured at the Gathering Together concert as we parody the Disney classic “Part of Your World.”
Here’s a sneak peek of the lyrics:
“We want to be where the people are
We wanna to sing,
wanna sing together
We miss our friends in our
(Whad’ya call ‘it?) oh – choir”
Fun, right?! Be brave and join us!
Here’s how this will work:
The idea is to have Phoenix singing the orchestral parts underneath, a-cappella style, and have all of our community singers singing the melody in your comfortable octave (that’s the fun part anyways!) but you are also welcome to record the choral part in your range, if you so choose.
Here you can see a video of Nicholle conducting the solo line, with the lyrics right on the screen. Please use this video as your reference track when you do your own recording. If you prefer to sing from the score, you can see the full score or a solo-only option below:
You may consider recording your vocals and your video separately so that you can really get into character for your video without sacrificing your audio. Please feel free to ham it up and really have fun with it! If you have seen our “Longest Time” video, you’ll know that the guys getting the haircut and playing with puppets were the standout stars.
We will need to have your completed recordings by Sunday, October 4th, at 9:00pm in order to include them in the final piece. We are expecting to have quite a number of submissions, and need to make sure our team has time to put them all together!
Please share your recordings with us at email@example.com via google drive, WeTransfer, Dropbox, etc.
The final video will premiere at our virtual concert on Saturday, October 24th, at 7:30pm, and tickets are on sale now! For information about the concert, and to purchase tickets, please visit our website at https://phoenixchoir.com/concerts.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are so looking forward to seeing your videos and to be “singing with you” for this piece!
