Phoenix Chamber Choir and alumni from the past 35 years sang The Road Home by Stephen Paulus at our October 2018 concert. Members of our ensemble over the last 35 years were invited up to sing a choir favourite.

This performance was recorded live at St. John’s Shaughnessy Church, Vancouver, BC by recording engineer, Brian Chan, on October 20, 2018.

What a fantastic show! Thank you to all our wonderful audience members, sponsors, special guests, board members, and alumni for being part of this evening. Huge thank you to Erick Lichte for choosing incredible (and incredibly challenging!) repertoire, and for guiding us and pushing us over the last 6 weeks so that we could deliver this performance.

Can’t wait to see everyone for A Phoenix Christmas! Sunday, December 16th, starting at 4pm, with audience reception following the show!

All volunteers receive free admission into our concerts. We can also provide you with an official reference letter by request.

If you are interested in volunteering at one or more of our concerts, please email admin@phoenixchoir.com for more information.

It is amazing but true, Phoenix is celebrating 35 years of making music together and our alumni were a big part of that journey! We will be honouring all the Alumni this season and would like as many as possible to join together with us to sing the Paulus “Road Home” at our concert at 7:30pm on October 20th, at St. John Shaughnessy Church.

Please email admin@phoenixchoir.com for more information and to get a digital copy of the score.

Under the direction of Dr. Langager, Phoenix Chamber Choir has: released 3 CD’s; placed 1st in Adult Chamber Choir Category, 1st in Contemporary Category, Best performance of a Canadian song in the Canadian Amateur Choir competition; performed at Podium 2016 (Edmonton); performed with Andrea Bocelli; the VSO; launched Chrysalis Vocal Ensemble; and most recently, completed an inspiring collaboration with Ballet BC for “Program 3”.

“Emily Molnar’s (artistic director at Ballet BC) piece was entitled “When You Left”, hauntingly accompanied by the Phoenix Chamber Choir performing Peteris Vask’s ‘Plainscapes’. Without any exaggeration the vocals were exquisite, filling the auditorium with a spine-tingling crystal clear resonance.” -MG (Vancouver Arts Review).

The Phoenix Vocal and Performing Society would like to thank Dr. Graeme Langager for 6 amazing seasons of leadership, artistry, and passion. The sold-out concert, This House of Peace, on May 26th, was an incredible celebration to end our 35th season, and our last concert with Dr. Langager as Artistic Director. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

As one audience member described: “This House of Peace was the most beautiful, transcendent sound I have ever heard from a choir, mesmerizing! The deep baritones were incredible – many voices, attuned as one organic instrument under the hand of Graeme Langager – Thank you” -KT

Stay tuned for 2018-19 season details!

We’re happy to report that we gave our concert last week to a very full house! We’re so grateful to everyone who came out to hear not just us, but the amazing young voices of Chrysalis, our youth choir. It was a very memorable experience with beautiful instrumentalists and gorgeous repertoire all under the talented direction of Graeme Langager. It was a fantastic evening and a great way to end our season.

Thanks so much to everyone who has supported us in so many ways. We look forward to seeing you at our concerts next season. Dates are below (and more will be announced soon) so mark your calendars!
