It is with sadness and well wishes that Phoenix announces the resignation of Assistant Conductor, Ian Bannerman.

Phoenix Chamber Choir is proud to be presenting renowned British vocal ensemble, VOCES8 in the spring of 2021 as what is bound to be a pinnacle gathering of our 38th annual season.

For Phoenix Chamber Choir, singing is more than a hobby: it is an essential part of who we are and how we engage with the world. For us, singing offers unifying power, even during an era that not one of us could have predicted, when so much is keeping us apart, and where the injustices of the world weigh heavy. We have told you from the beginning that we are strong, we are committed, and we will continue to spread hope through music. 

Along with some friends from around the continent, we once again bring you a musical PSA and expression of unity to remind you to “do what we all gotta do” and THANK our frontline workers!⁠

We’ve been so overwhelmed and honoured by the attention, support and love that we received for our first video, that we decided to put together another one, but this time we brought some friends along!

We have been blown away by the response of our Coronavirus Rhapsody Parody video, which we released on March 31. One of the many common questions we’ve received in the outpouring of responses is “how did you make the video?”

On Tuesday, March 17th Phoenix decided to cancel the rest of our 2019-2020 season, in order to protect the health and safety of our singers and audience members; but that doesn’t mean that we’ve stopped making music together!

It is with immense sadness and regret that we inform you the Phoenix Board of Directors has decided to cancel the remainder of the 2019-2020 season. This cancellation includes all rehearsals and workshops, our April 22 Earth Songs concert, and our June 2020 auditions and recording sessions. 

The lineup for the spring Earth Songs concert continues to become more unique and engaging. In addition to the stunning garden setting, the two world premieres of musical pieces, an enhanced experience for a few select guests, the concert will also feature a live artist: local painter, Corrinne Wolcoski.

On April 22, Phoenix Chamber Choir will be putting on what may be the most unique concert to date. The performance will take place at a gorgeous garden venue, versus a church or concert hall, as a part of a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.

Phoenix is excited to introduce young composer Timothy Cunningham to our repertoire and community.

We are excited to announce that our spring concert, Earth Songs, which is already promised to be one of the most unique Phoenix concerts to date, now includes an enhanced ticket option.

When artistic director, Dr. Nicholle Andrews kicks off her shoes before beginning a Phoenix rehearsal, the singers chuckle perhaps, but think little of it.

In alignment with our emphasis on choral education, Phoenix is proud to be offering workshops this season for various community ensembles and student groups with our Artistic Director, Dr. Nicholle Andrews.

We are elated to welcome Dr. Nicholle Andrews from the University of Redlands in Southern California as Phoenix’s 4th Artistic Director.

We are thrilled to be announcing our 37th Season: Reawakening. 

In demand as a conductor, soloist, and ensemble member, Ian Bannerman gets his hands in a wide variety of vocal music.
