Assistant Conductor Announcement

In demand as a conductor, soloist, and ensemble member, Ian Bannerman gets his hands in a wide variety of vocal music. We are thrilled to be welcoming him as Phoenix’s Assistant Conductor for the 2019-2020 season under the leadership of Dr. Nicholle Andrews.

Ian earned a Bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance from The University of British Columbia studying under Roelof Oostwoud and J. Patrick Raftery, and holds a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from The University of Alberta where he studied with Dr. Leonard Ratzlaff. Ian is also honoured to have studied privately with Kathleen Allan, John Tessier, Jon Washburn, and more.

Born and raised in Southwestern Ontario, Ian performed for nearly a decade with the Amabile Choirs of London, and earned Assistant Conductor positions with the Conspirato Chamber Singers and the Ontario Education Leadership Centre Mass Choir. While living in Vancouver and Edmonton Ian has performed with esteemed Canadian ensembles such as the Vancouver Chamber Choir, Pro Coro Canada, musica intima, Early Music Vancouver, Voicescapes, Luminous Voices, Early Music Alberta, and more. Recent soloist engagements include Bernstein’s Mass with A Joyful Noise Choir, a concert of German Baroque Cantatas with Early Music Alberta, Handel’s Messiah with the BALM Society, and a Lecture-Recital with period instruments on performance practice of Bach’s St. John Passion. Passionate about collaborative and self-directed musicianship, Ian has formed and performed in numerous small conductorless and conducted ensembles.

Ian is thrilled to be a part of Phoenix Chamber Choir, and hopes to see you all on October 26th for the first concert of our 37th season.

Stacey Rose

Stacey Rose is a Baritone in Lions Gate Chorus, the 2020 International Silver Medalists. She is also the Marketing Coordinator for both Lions Gate Chorus and Region 26 Sweet Adelines.
